Backflips Mini Moto Rd 3

Me and Jase made the trip to Timaru for the 3rd and final round of the Backflips Mini Moto series. They used the same track as they did for the second round but with the addition of a fairly large double well big for pit bikes anyways, it sorted the men out from the boys with only about 5 of us jumping it. Even tho the inside line without the double was just as quick i managed to use jumping the double to my advantage a few times with laped traffic  and made a few passes there.
I managed to finish 2nd in all 3 open class races on the day just a trade off the pace of  Nick Shore the winner and i think Jason came home 3rd in all 3 races. This left Jason 2nd overall in the series and i finished the series 3rd overall, so a couple of trophies to take back to dunedin for the KOARSE riders not bad.
But the big race for me was the 25min $250 winner takes all race at the end of the day, and with the 3 stand out riders of the series (Jeremy McNight, Matt Southerland and Jared Pyke) not entering and also Nick Shore having already gone home i was confident i could take this one out. I entered the 20min dwadz race to warm up but had to pull out about halfway through while running third when i cased the double and my tank and seat came off, i  had just enough time to put my bike back together with duck tape before the start of the $250 race. I got about a 4th place start and worked my way into the lead by about the 10min mark then Rueben Hanna who was running second went down giving me a comfortable half lap lead i backed it off a bit and maintained a comfortable lead until with only a few laps to go disaster struck a stick got wedged into my rear chain guide which resulted in the rear sproket coming off and a DNF gutted so close but no cigar shit happens. When i heard Rueben who eventually won the race by a couple of bike lenghts over Jamie Shore was going to spend his winnings on a bar tab and stripper for the boys that night i felt alot better about losing, i only wish i could have hung around to enjoy the stripper too.
Anyways a very enjoyable series big props to Jeremy for running it. I can’t wait for the next one although next time i think i might have to turn up with better equipment and give these Backflips boys a real run for there money.
